Arnold George Dorsey, better known as ENGELBERT HUMPERDINCK, grew up in England, playing saxophone until his big break at the age of 17, when he appeared on Sunday Night at the Palladium. Debuting his now gold signature single, "Release Me," ENGELBERT 's appearance caused the song to skyrocket up the Hit Parade, preventing The Beatles from reaching their customary #1 position with " Penny Lane." Since then, he has garnered 64 gold and 23 platinum records, including hits like "Spanish Eyes," "A Man Without Love," "After the Lovin'," and "Winter World of Love."

South Shore Arts Presents Pavement Ends–The Vanishing Landscape: Photographs by Richard Loslo Works by photographer Richard Loslo will be on display in the Atrium Gallery at The Center for Visual and Performing Arts, 1040 Ridge Road, Munster, Indiana, April 4 through May 18, 2008. The hours for the Atrium Gallery are Monday through Friday 9:00 am-5:00 pm, Saturday 9:00 am-4:00 pm, and Sunday 11:00 am-4:00 pm. A reception will be held on Saturday, April 12, 2008 from 2:00 to 4:00 pm. This event is FREE and open to the public. A resident of Northwest Indiana for over twenty years, Richard Loslo has been interested in photography since he was eight years old. His photographs have documented the lives of his family, friends and the students he has worked with in his teaching career. Mr. Loslo spent many years working primarily with black and white, processing the negatives and developing the prints in his own darkroom. In 2005, Mr. Loslo acquired a digital camera and has found immense satisfaction working with various computer programs. All of the images included in this exhibit were taken with a digital camera. Though sad to leave the black and white, chemical process behind; Mr. Loslo sees digital imaging as the here and now. Pavement Ends evolved from Mr. Loslo’s fascination with the rapid changes taking place right outside our backdoors. In the early ‘80s, Loslo bicycled extensively throughout the Region, some days pedaling more than eighty miles. He saw the beauty of the farmland being overtaken by the force of economic growth. Through the photographs in this exhibit, Mr. Loslo shares his appreciation of the shrinking rural landscape throughout Chicagoland. This exhibit is FREE and open to the public. The Towle Community Theater continues their 2008 5th Anniversary Subscription Series with the Indiana State Premiere “No Way to Treat a Lady”. “No Way to Treat a Lady” is a musical comedy thriller about a publicity-crazed actor turned killer and the endearing detective who pursues him. During the pursuit, the detective meets Sarah, a bright & confident woman. Love blooms between the two, but will his job and the killer get in the way? The musical is based on the best selling novel that became a renowned movie (both of the same name). It is a devilish blend of humor, romance and murder. This winner of a 1987 Richard Rodgers grant was nominated for Best Revival by the New York Outer Critics Circle. This production is directed and choreographed by Jeff Casey. Valerie Webdell is the Vocal/Music Director with Costumes and Sets designed by Kevin Bellamy. The cast includes John E. Buranosky (Chicago), Kristyn Estes (Munster), Tom Farley (Chicago) and Sherry VerWey (Griffith).
On May 10th, following the performance, there will be a Cast Talk Back. This is a casual Q & A with the cast and production staff. The audience is invited to stay after the show and ask all those questions you always wanted to ask about “show biz”.
Performances run May 8-11 & 15-18. Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays at 8pm & Sundays at 2pm. Tickets are $15. The musical is rate PG-13. Advance payment required. Tickets are non-refundable. Please arrive no later than 15 minutes prior to curtain. If you arrive after curtain, you will be seated at the discretion of the House Manager. We do not hold curtain. Doors are locked once the show has started. Call 219-937-8780 for more information or to purchase tickets.
